Financial Aid Advice That’s Too Good To Be True

(6th to 12th Grade Students)

There are many rumors out there alluding to strategies that will increase students’ financial aid packages or lower their college costs. This workshop will explore some of the most popular pieces of advice, identifying some that might work and those that definitely won’t. Our college finance expert will cover:

  • If it is possible to get in-state tuition at an out-of-state college
  • Whether you can reposition your family assets to create more financial aid eligibility
  • If there are ways to hide assets and lower your expected family contribution
  • If it is possible to get the college to consider your child financially independent of you
  • Real, ethical tips that everyone can use to reduce costs and potentially maximize financial aid eligibility

This Spotlight Series webinar will run for about 45 minutes with time after for questions. Please note: there are a limited number of seats available for this program which will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
