Long-term Disability (LTD)
If you are still disabled after you exhaust your Short-Term Disability benefits you may qualify for LTD benefits. These benefits are equal to 66.7% of your monthly basic earnings, to a maximum payment of $10,000 per month.
LTD benefits are paid for as long as you are considered totally disabled or until you retire, reach age 65 or die. To be considered totally disabled you must be unable to perform the duties of your own job during the first 24 months you are on LTD. After that, you must be unable to do any job for which you are or may become suited based on your education or experience.
