There Are Few Guarantee’s In Life – This is One of Them
When enrolling for life insurance you may have seen mention of something called “Guarantee Issue”. It’s worth taking a moment to understand what this means. Guarantee Issue is the amount of life insurance you have access to without having to furnish any proof of good health. Generally our life insurance policies offer some level of Guarantee Issue for employees who are first eligible for these policies. This would generally be a benefits eligible new hire, but someone transferring into the US for the first time, or part of an acquisition could also meet the eligibility criteria. That’s why it’s advantageous to enroll for life insurance when you are first eligible. Employees can enroll into our life insurance policies at any time – but once you are past your initial eligibility period – you will have to complete the Evidence of Insurability forms and possibly undergo a health exam to gain approval for coverage.
Below is a handy chart that explains when you can enroll into our coverages, the level of Guarantee Issue amounts for each policy, and the limits of the benefit overall.
