Who can you cover?
You can select coverage for you and your eligible dependents, including:
- Your spouse: the person to whom you are legally married or with whom you have been living in a common-law relationship for at least the last year.
- Your dependent children: each unmarried natural or adopted child or step-child under age 21 (under age 25 if a full time student at an educational institution recognized by the Income Tax Act) who is entirely dependent on you for financial support.
- A disabled child: any unmarried dependent child who became disabled before the limiting ages above and who is capable of financial self-support due to a physical or mental disability.
Choosing your coverage status
When it comes to Medical and Dental, you should consider who you want to cover. You have three coverage status options:
- Single: coverage for you alone
- Member +1: coverage for you and one dependent (either your spouse or a dependent child)
- Family: coverage for you and two or more eligible dependents.
You can choose the same or a different coverage status for Medical and Dental. Take the time to decide what’s best for your situation and make sure any dependent s you want to cover are registered when you enrol.
