Don’t let an ER bill give you a Heart Attack!
When a medical issue arises, it can be difficult to decide when to go for care. These tips will help you decide when to visit the ER and when to pursue other options.
In an emergency situation: You should always call 911 or go to the ER if you or a loved one has an urgent, serious or life-threatening medical issue such as:
- Severe burns, bleeding or cuts
- Difficulty breathing
- Chest, jaw or arm pain
- Injuries accompanied by broken bone, lack of movement, fainting or confusion
- Drooping of face, impaired speech or sight
- Overdose on medications, alcohol or other drugs
- Seizures
In a non-emergency situation:
Call your doctor. Your primary care doctor is a valuable resource who can determine if emergency care is needed. If you don’t currently have a doctor, call us and we will help locate the right in-network provider.
Contact 98point6. 98point6 gives you 24/7 access to a doctor by phone or app. All 98point6 doctors are board-certified, state –licensed and can help treat you. They can even send a prescription to your local pharmacy, when medical necessary.
Visit an in-network urgent care center. They quickly and more affordably treat sprains, cuts and breaks, colds, fevers and other non-life threatening conditions.
Manage your health. If you or a family member goes to the ER often for a chronic condition such as asthma or diabetes, you may need more extensive care to better manage your condition.
