When can I enroll in the healthcare plan?
Healthcare is pretty regimented about when you can enroll or terminate from a plan. It’s important you know when you can take action.
New Hire: New employees to the organization have 60 days to enroll in healthcare. If you do not enroll during that time, you will not have healthcare coverage for the remainder of the calendar year. You would have to enroll during the next annual enrollment.
Mid-year Enrollment: If you experience a life event during the year, you can make a change within 60 days of your life event. A life event are things like: getting married and adding your spouse, having a baby and adding your new baby, getting divorced and removing your ex-spouse, losing other coverage. If you do not enroll within 60 days from the date of your life event, you cannot enroll on the healthcare plan. You may also gain other coverage like if a spouse takes a new job and you want to switch to their coverage. You must make your change within 60 days of gaining the new coverage in order to terminate your participation.
Annual Enrollment: Each year, typically in the beginning of November, we host an annual enrollment on The Benefits Center. During this annual enrollment you can: enroll in a new coverage, change your coverage or terminate participation in your coverage to be effective January 1 of the following year.
